An Hour With You

After a day of touching everyone else’s skin

I wonder what it means to you

To go home

And touch your partner’s skin or your own.

I wonder what skin means to you.

I wonder what your own thigh means to you.

Your own thigh which I graze when you walk by.

I wonder if you dream of your skin

Leaving your body.

Leaving all bodies.

I wonder if only the antithesis to Debussy unties you.

Your hand is warm inside my own.

You break my skin’s solitude.

There are alleys in the body, in the bone

That no one goes down much.
