More Than This

You occupy my mind

I don’t like how simple things remind me of you

And it’s really hard to find 

Reasons why our dreams did not come true

My heart yearns for something more

But my mind tells me to stop

So I walk along the shore 

And I ask God 

Why did things have to end the way they did?

Is this truly what’s best for us both? 

Was it all just a lie, a fib?

Or could it have been more than this?
